I've just scanned the newspaper report from the very first Millennium Way Relay and, having told someone yesterday that I was the second person to ever complete a leg of this historic event, I realise that I was the third behind the wonderful (then) teenager Stephen Mackie who died so tragically young.
I knew that I had been inferior to Dave Newton but I got my revenge the next year - if my memory has not gone again!
I'm sure that Chris Quine would like it to be known that he was only 5 when he ran in 1979!
