What was effectively the unofficial national Post Office Walking Championship was held in London on Saturday 25th September, reports Graham Young. Teams from Edinburgh, Yor, Birmingham and London travelled to the 49th annual race in uniform. Once Parish Walk finisher, Roey Crellin got into her stride, she had a comfortable race and won the 3 mile ladies event. Muneera Quayle made her debut memorable by finishing a creditable third and also racewalking for the first time, her daughter Samantha finished an excellent 6th place, securing joint win for the Manx Ladies team.
With virtually no training since last year, Richard Creer left many experienced athletes trailing in his wake, including former world record holder, Paul Nihill, with supervet, John Cannell putting in a standard performance in the six miles race.
