There were big headlines in a local newspaper last week about an extra 3p tax on a litre of petrol. That works out at about a 2% increase.
And there is another shock, horror story today about old people facing price increases of 7%.
And inside the same paper there is a very narrow column noting that the price of the paper is to rise. No shock horror headlines then for a 7% increase for a commodity that forms a much bigger part of the disposal income of the low paid. Shock, horror indeed.
