Where are the runners?

I've climbed to the top of Snaefell so many times in recent years to take photos of the various fell races and, if visibility permits, I used North Barrule as a backdrop.

Because we have friends staying with us at the moment we have been doing a few touristy things and yesterday we took the two trams from Douglas to Laxey, and Laxey to the Snaefell Summit. It was the first time I had been on the latter for about 25 years. It seemed strange to be at the top without the imminent arrival of the fell runners. But I still took the photo!

There were lots of people in Victorian costume and it turned out to the very day that the refurbished restaurant was officially opened. We had just missed David Cretney unveiling the plaque. It we wait another 25 years to visit it will be due another refurbishment.
