The level crossing gate at Ballasalla closed at 10:21:50 today - just as a 1.30 half marathon runner would be reaching on Sunday. The gates remained closed for 1 minute and 50 seconds which means that it would block anyone with a finishing time up to 1:33:10. Based on last year's finishing times that would see 6 people held at the gates so with a bigger field this year perhaps 8 or 9 people will be held up at the gates.
On maybe we will be lucky - two years ago there was a gap of 2 minutes and 42 seconds between 20 and 21st at they were the runners at he pace who are going to get stopped on Sunday. Not sure about the walkers.
