Family day in Ballasalla

I planned to spend the day in Ballasalla today, at work. I even had a nice lunch at the Whitestone planned with a former colleague.

Ben didn't. In fact, so keen were we that he should not miss the "red eye" flight to Gatwick, where he was going to catch another flight to Aalborg in Denmark, where he is spending a year at university, that we even persuaded him to stay at the Sefton Express (the hotel across the road from the airport) in case the roads were impassable again today. Alas, after a night at IKEA (as he described the hotel) he was booked onto three separate flights to Gatwick until each one was cancelled due to the ice and snow at Gatwick. He eventually set off on the Manchester flight from where he travelled to Hull where he will spend the next three nights. His onward flight from Gatwick was also cancelled and there is not another for three days.

A night at IKEA, a day in Ballasalla and three nights in Hull. We certainly encourage our family to see the world!

I hope that I don't spend as much time at the airport on Saturday.
